  • Some Men Can Multitask – Solving a Rubik’s Cube While Juggling

Rubik's Cube Français : Rubik's Cube Bahasa Me... Rubik's Cube

I tried to tell my wife that multitasking was a myth (so she shouldn't expect me to be able to do it).

Sure someone could learn to juggle, or even to solve a Rubik's Cube … but to do both at the same time?

    Watch the video.

     via YouTube

Supposedly, the same guy can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 8 seconds, making him the 48th fastest cube solver on the planet.

    I still can't talk and type …

  • Check-Out the “People Are Awesome 2013” Video

Watch this video.  Lots of it is amazing … Some of it is inspiring.

You will witness flips, jumps, catches and feats that defy imagination (and certainly logic).

What type of person thinks, 'I want to do that' ?

  • Have You Seen the Hula Hoop Video From Burning Man Yet?

Someone put a camera on a Hula Hoop and decided to call it a Hula Cam.

They let a bunch of people at the Burning Man event try it …

Basically, a bunch of women at Burning Man are shown hula hooping from the hoop’s point of view.

Needless to say the video went viral.

It is a little bit "trippy" … but somehow strangely interesting.

  • Expect Extraordinary – Here’s a Video of Something Not to Try at Home

    Sometimes normal isn't enough.

Playing safe is often a good strategy … But, sometimes you have to expect the extraordinary.

Did you see the strange guy doing a modified tight-rope circus routine during Madonna's Super Bowl half-time performance.

120211 Madonna and Sketchy Andy at the Super Bowl

Well, it was more than that … did you see the guy bounce up and down as though that little rope was a trampoline?

What in the world was going on?

Well, the short answer is: slacklining. Or, if you want to get technical and specific, tricklining. According to California's Adventure Sports Journal , slacklining was invented in the early 1980s by two rock climbers.

As you may have guessed, the Super Bowl halftime cameo was a big moment for the young sport of slacklining—and for the talented, curly-haired slackliner who got the spotlight: Andy Lewis, aka Sketchy Andy . You've got to watch what he can really do!

Imagine what went into developing this skill.  Was it thought … or something you forgot you could exercise?

What are you committed to expecting extraordinary about … starting now?

  • Reminiscences of a Retreat

I just got back from a weekend retreat with a group of entrepreneurs.

It consistently surprises me how valuable it is to take time to get away from your daily routines, in order to focus on the bigger picture.

Part of the benefit is simply taking the time to do it.  Another part is listening to others, and hearing a fresh perspective.

    100409 Retreat Rock Band Activity

    Having fun helps too.

    Guitar Hero

I've watched my kids play Guitar Hero and Rock Band on their gaming systems; however, it was quite a different experience watching a bunch of middle-aged children play it at the retreat.

I was particularly embarrassed that I knew so few of the songs.  And when I tried participating … I reminded myself more of my father, than of a rock-star.

Yet, for what it's worth, it turned out to be a great group activity to loosen-folks-up at the retreat.

  • How Much Is a Burger at the Cowboys’ New Stadium?

"Everything's bigger in Texas" takes on new meaning while touring the new Dallas Cowboys football stadium. The stadium cost over $1.1 billion to construct; and it makes a big statement.  In addition to being massive (large enough that the Statue of Liberty would fit comfortably inside), the new structure is quite distinctive and technologically innovative.

    From inside the stadium,
with the roof closed, it was designed to look like the old Texas
Stadium's roof (with its visual trademark hole).  However, it can be fully-shut or fully-opened.  Actually, it does a lot more than open; it slides back and then the end-zone entrances shift sideways to create the appearance of a totally open stadium, all the way out to the parking lots. My sons and I tried to figure-out how they did this … and surmised that they spent a whole bunch of money and a lot of time to make this stadium act like a Transformer.

Another technological marvel is the high-definition video screen hanging above the field. It is a massive, and currently the world's largest screen.  It measures more than 11,500 square feet (72feet
tall and 160 feet wide) and weighs over 1.2 million pounds.  In addition to experiencing the event live, they've tried to make the multimedia experience in the stadium better than you'd get on your television set.  It will be easy to follow the action from any seat in the stadium.

By the way – that screen, alone, cost more ($40 million) than the entire construction of the Cowboys' previous home, Texas Stadium ($35 million).

In addition, the Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, has shown that he is an innovative business man as well. He focused on selling far more suites than stadiums before this had available. Moreover, even though the stadium is designed to hold approximately 80,000 people for normal events, it can expand to hold over 100,000 people for special events (like next year's Super Bowl).

He extended an olive branch to the common man. Not in the price of a pizza, which costs $60 at the stadium.  However, the Cowboys now offer a "Party Pass" that allows access to the game for $29, so long as you're willing to stand in the concession areas.  Believe it or not, that Party Pass idea is getting great press and opens the live game experience to a whole different range of socioeconomic backgrounds. At least until they see how much a burger costs of the stadium.  I cut off the price of the alcohol or you'd need a drink.
